Do you want to get along better with your partner or family members?
Are you worried about your child’s moods or behavior?
Do you long for more fulfilling relationships?
Are you dealing with a challenging relationship or a recent breakup?
Are past events, experiences or traumas getting in your way in the present?
Are you sidetracked by your worries or by feeling blue?
We all experience bumps along the road of life. Whether you are struggling with anxiety, depression, trauma, stress, ADHD, relationship conflict, parenting stress, or you just want to function more optimally in your life, work and relationships, Dr. Taub can help.
Therapy is not a one-size-fits-all experience. I am experienced in a variety of evidence-based methods, including advanced certification in EMDR, for treating anxiety, depression, trauma, ADHD, and relationship issues. We will tailor an approach to your needs to help you feel better.
Working with individuals:
I have experience in helping people with anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship troubles, and managing family and work life to be less stressed and more content with life. I tend to take an active, collaborative and supportive approach to my work. Because I have training and experience in a variety of evidence based treatments (see About for more details), we will work together to identify the approach best suited to your needs. The goal is to help you feel better!
Working with parents:
No one knows your child better than you, and no one spends more time with your child than you. I tend to take an active, collaborative and supportive approach to my work, employing a “coaching” approach to working with parents. We will work together to envision the family relationships you would like to have, and I will support you in getting there using a strengths-based approach.
I can be available to work with you between sessions via phone and text, when crises or concerns arise, to support you in the moment. I have experience working with a variety of family configurations, stepfamilies, LGBTQ families, and families with gender nonconforming children.
Working with children:
Is your child defiant, aggressive and difficult? Does your child have worries that get in the way of her happiness? Is he feeling sad or disconnected from friends? Whether your child is struggling with aggression, impulsivity, anxiety or sadness, therapy can provide relief to you and your child. The younger your child is, the more time I will spend with you as a family. For school aged children, I will work individually with the child, but have regular check ins together to enhance positive communication, and to support parents in learning new ways to support your child. Services for children begin with a meeting with parents, and establishing a diagnosis through interviews and collection of standardized assessments in order to determine the treatment plan.
Working with adolescents:
Work with adolescents starts from a youth-centered and strengths-based approach. For youth struggling with depression or anxiety, I take an interpersonal focus with specific skills taught as needed, such as understanding how negative thoughts influence behavior, mood tracking, and mindfulness. For youth with Executive Functioning challenges, we will focus on specific systems and skills to support time management, planning, and organization.
Working with couples:
Why did you choose your partner? What childhood wounds do you carry with you into your adult partnerships? How do those wounds impact your day to day interactions? Are you stuck in cycles of blame? Do your relationship conflicts follow you to the bedroom?
We will work together to helping you move from unhealthy cycles of blame and reactivity, to ones of increased understanding, empathy and intimacy with your partner. Using the frameworks provided by Imago therapy and Emotionally-Focused Therapy, you will improve communication skills and your empathic responses so that you have a deeper and more rewarding relationship.
I am experienced in working with a diverse range of couples, including LGBTQ and poly-identified couples.
